Step By Step Guide to Cleaning Your Driveway Drain

• Safety first
  Wear protective gloves to avoid contact with debris or potential contaminants
• Removing the grate
  If possible, remove the grate gently. You may need to unscrew a lockdown mechanism. if so, ensure you keep the components in a safe place to lock it back in place once cleaning is complete. Ensure to not bend the grate as you pull it out of the channel.
• Clear debris from drain
  Using your shovel or trowel, remove debris from the channel, placing it in the bucket for easy disposal.
• Flush the drain with water
  Attach a high pressure nozzle to your hose, or use a pressure cleaner and flush the drain. Water pressure will help dislodge smaller particles and push them through the drainpipe. Keep flushing until the water flows freely
• Use a drain snake for stubborn clogs
  If the water is not draining properly, use a drain snake to break up remaining clogs. Insert the snake into the drain and rotate while pushing it forward. Once you feel resistance, continue turning to help break up the clog. If you cannot clear the drain, it may be time to call a licensed plumber.
• Rinse & replace grate
  After clearing the drain, flush it once more to ensure it is completely clean. Replace the grate & reinstall any lockdown mechanisms.
• Regular Maintenance
  To keep your driveway drain functioning, you must continue with regular maintenance. Clear away debris from drain opening at least once a month and after heavy storms.
