The Northern Beaches Manly Council upgraded to create a modern spacious, pedestrian and bike friendly boulevard. Since then, the newly renovated plaza has become alive to community events such as the weekly Manly Fresh Produce Markets, and loads of fun kids’ school holidays activities.
The revitalisation of Short Street included new seating, paving, lighting, signs and bike racks. A large lawn provides a place for families to relax and enjoy the entertainment that now takes place in the Plaza. The installation of our 601 drainage system paved boulevard has seamlessly fitted into this new scene.
The specifications of the SAB600 for this project was ideal as its Galvanised steel heel guard type grate with the polypropylene plastic drainage channel unit offered the flexibility and durability that was required. The job requirements of being a class B load rated for pedestrians and light commercial vehicles was easily attained to by using our 601 series.
Sudden torrential downpours causing flooding and overflowing drains is something Sydney is now calling normal. Our 601 is perfect for draining excess water with its polypropylene channel quickly taking away water. The use of the 150mm x 150mm channel ensures the grate intakes a large amount of water. A 2-point security locking keeps it rattle free from vehicular movements and secures it from unauthorised access. The Heel Guard type grate was specifically designed to keep the public safe by providing a grate with holes less than 8mm no heels are caught inside the grate.
