McMahons Point is named after Maurice McMahon, an Irish manufacturer of brushes and combs who, in 1864, built his home on the headland. To the north, next to the CBD of North Sydney, is home to many advertising, media, computing and architecture firms as well as specialty shops, alfresco cafes and local pubs. The southern end features picture postcard views of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and a large grassy area to just sit back and enjoy the view.
The stairs leading from McMahons Point to East Crescent street serves as an important connection between the point & Lavender Bay. As it is apart of the popular Balls Head to Luna Park tourist walk, the stairs needed to be kept as safe as possible through all of Sydney’s weather. SAB 601 150mm x 150mm was installed across the stairway.
