Singapore is a well-connected and highly developed city state. By investing in a flexible sporting and cultural hub, its government hoped to build the country’s reputation internationally and inspire both grassroots participation and national excellence in sport. Within easy reach of the city centre and international airport, Singapore Sports Hub is key to the city’s urban development plan and central to its vision for a recreation, entertainment, heritage and sustainable precinct for a healthy and active population. Arup led the stadium architecture, masterplanning and engineering on what would become Asia’s first integrated sport, leisure and lifestyle development, putting the spectacular new Singapore national stadium at its heart.
This $1.33 billion state-of-the-art, fully integrated sports and lifestyle hub is not only a visual feast for the eyes but is also built with sustainability in mind. Jonite Trench Grates, Sump Covers and Tree Grates are incorporated throughout the facility to harmoniously complement the surroundings of Singapore’s newest iconic landmark, the Singapore Sports Hub. Through customized light ports, the tree grates are fitted with lighting that provides a beautiful and serene ambience at night.
